Neighborhood Profile
Shinagawa Ward is located in the southeast part of Tokyo and is divided into the Shinagawa, Osaki, Ebara, Oi, and the Yashio
districts. Sometimes people have mistakenly thought that Shinagawa Station is in Minato ward. Actually, Shinagawa Ward begins on
the southern side of Shinagawa Station, That is why it is called "North Shinagawa". Shinagawa Ward encompasses 1/27
of the total land area for all the 23 wards and about 1/100 of the land mass in all of Tokyo prefecture.
Favorite Areas
Kamiosaki
This area is inside the Jr. Yamanote circle and is between Ebisu Garden Place and Meguro Station. It is a quiet residential area
near Hiro Station on the Hibiya Line and close to the Shirokane area.
Gotanda This residential area is called Ikedayama. It used to be the home of her imperial highness Michiko's parents.
Gotenyama is on the other side of Sakurada Street from the Ikedayama area. This area also has high-end residential accommodations,
but the rent is more moderate than Hiro, and the living spaces are larger. It's a convenient location for using the Toei
Asakusa Line, or for commuting toward Ginza.

Hara Museum of Contemporary Art

This museum specializes in modern art. The library opened in 1979. It takes about one hour to go through the museum.

For fishing and enjoying nature, there is the "Sports forest" and the "Nagisa forest". There are also facilities
for baseball and tennis courts.
Shinagawa Aquarium: 8 minute walk from Omorikaigan Station on the Keihin Kyuko Line. 3-2-1 Kachishima, Shinagawa-ku
There are about 450 different kinds of fish, with a total of about 10,000 of fish and other creatures. There is a dolphin
show and a sea lion show, too. It boasts a 22 meter long tunnel that goes through the aquarium and is very impressive

This park is 700 meters from East to West. It is long and slender from north to south, extending 250 meters.
It takes 45 minutes to walk around the outer edge of the park.
