Ota Ward, Tokyo
It is three times bigger in land size than Minato Ward.
To the Northeast of Ota Ward is Shinagawa and to the North is Meguro Ward with Shinagawa facing Tokyo Bay. Ota Ward is also adjacent to Setagaya
Ward to the Northwest. Tama River borders the Ward on the west and south. Across the river lies Kawasaki City in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Shyochiku kinema kamata Studio used to be located in the Ward. It is now called Ota kumin Apuriko. A model of the building
is now displayed in the underground lobby.
Omori kaizuka is an archeological site from the Jomon period. There is a stone monument in the center of the JR Omori Station.
On March 15, 1947 Omori Ward joined with Kamata Ward to become Ota Ward. The "O" in Omori combined with the "ta"
in Kamata to create the name for Ota Ward.
When Haneda Airport expanded into Tokyo Bay by using fill, Ota Ward then became the largest of Tokyo's 23 Wards.
The population is 650,000 people including the 16,000 foreigners. The ratio of men to women is equal.
