Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo
Bunkyo Ward is located in the heartland region of Tokyo's 23 districts. This is a famous place of historic interest with
many Shinto shrines, temples, and landmarks. Many monuments remain today.
Hongo is an integral part of the University of Tokyo. Many writers and poets from the Meiji to the Showa eras lived in the vicinity
around the university and the city is almost like a literature town.
Many landmarks of the Tokugawa family remain. In the Koishikawa Kourakuen area we can enjoy a trip back in time to the Togugawa
Period. During the month of February, the white and red plum tree blooms are famous. The mum festival in November is a favorite
among Japanese people. The Yushima Tenmangu Shrine is a popular attraction throughout the year.
Favorite Areas
Hakusan, Sengoku, and Honkomagome
Accessible from Hakusan or Sengoku Stations (subway Toei Mita Line) and Honkomagome Station (Nanboku Line),. Stepping off
the the main street you'll be surrounded by a very nice, quiet residential area. Rikugi-en is surrounded by high-end
homes which have been owned by the same families for generations.
Tokyo Dome City
Tokyo Dome City surrounds Tokyo Dome, which is a popular stadium for watching baseball and other concerts. Around the dome you
can enjoy a variety of places to shop, eateries, hot springs and amusement park rides. It is the home of LaQua, one of the big spas in Tokyo.

A 7 minute walk from Korakuen Station (Marunouchi and Nanboku Lines). This was the residence of the Mito Tokugawa family during
the Edo period. There is a Chinese style garden with a pond, where you can make an excusion.

Koishikawa Botanical Garden

A 10 minute walk from Hakusan (subway Toei Mita Line), or a 15 minute walk from Myogadani Station (Marunouchi Line). Fifth
generation Brigadier General Tokugawa Tsunayoshi built this second house during the time when he was the Tatebayashi lord.
Yushima Shrine

A 2 minute walk from Yushima Sta. (Chiyoda Line). It has deified Mr. Michizane Sugawara as the God of Study. It is also a showplace of plum trees.
Gokoku Temple

Rikugien Garden
The garden marks where the residence of Mr. Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa once stood. Fifth generation Brigadier General Tokugawa Tsunayoshi
gave the land to Mr. Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa. In 1695 Mr Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa built his house and the garden there.

The southern part is separated by the Kanda river, and to the southwest is Shinjuku Ward. Across the Kanda river lies Chiyoda
Ward. From the Northwest heading West lies Toshima Ward. Kita Ward is to the North. In the northeastern section is Arakawa
Ward. In the East is Taito Ward.
